Tips and Tricks to Streamline and Secure Your Year End Processing
Before closing the books remember to:
- Develop A Year-End Plan
By creating a schedule where you are able to implement reminders and progress tracking, it will avoid any forgotten tasks and guarantee an easier year end processing. - Double Check the Version Number
Depending on your software, closing procedures may differ. Before starting your closing process, check to see what version you have. To do so, on the Sage website, click: Help > About Sage 100 - Backup Data
It is important to ensure that all data is backed up incase of any mistakes that can occur during the process. In such case, you will have access to the backed up data to restore any lost information. - Follow the Module Closing Order
Following the order of the procedures will prevent any unexpected damage to the data. Sage 100 offers a Module Closing Checklist that can be located in Sage 100 Help System. - Make sure accounts are up to date
Information listed in the financial accounts should equate to all of your bills, invoices, bank statements, and deposits. - Make sure employee data is accurate
In order to avoid any complications during the year end process, confirm that the payroll and expense summary are correct. This will prevent any issues from arising when it is time for year end processing.
